About us
We deliver extraordinary performances,
making the unexpected come alive
For over twenty years we have been leading the way in carnival art and performance.
Drawing inspiration from carnival traditions and diverse influences from Europe, Latin America, the Caribbean and Africa we strive to bring the magic of performance to every street corner, and enable everyone to experience the joy of creativity.
Established in 2002 by artists Charles Beauchamp and Julieta Rubio, we have sprinkled Mandinga magic in all sorts of locations since that time; from street corners to festivals, libraries to stadiums, our distinctive style combines live music, carnival, street costume, puppetry and dance. With energy and interactivity at the heart of every performance, freedom of expression and collective imagination is at the heart of what we do.
Our values
Bold – We push boundaries to create new forms, experiences and breathtaking moments
Playful – We want people of all ages to connect with the joy of play and imagination
Collaborative – We harness the power of collective imagination and invite everyone to co-create and express themselves
Innovative – We experiment with carnival traditions so people can come together and see the world anew
Who we are
Founded by Julieta Rubio and Charles Beauchamp in 2002 with the aim of promoting, sharing and developing carnival arts. Today, Mandinga Arts takes performances across the UK and internationally but we couldn’t do it without our exceptionally talented team who help us keep the show on the road and the costumes ship-shape.
